Gambhir registered his first as India batted themselves into an almost unconquerable position in the third Test. On the second successive day of complete Indian domination,Australia looked pretty happy as they didnt lose any single wicket at the end of day 2.

Australian bowlers looked helpless so as Ricy as he tried all his players who can bowl . only Shane Watson and Michael Johnson got some success for them. Gambhir and Laxman compiled a mammoth 278-run partnership that left Australia tired, frustrated and wicketless for nearly three sessions . In spite Gambhir superb achievement ,the day was finally named Laxman as he took India to 613/7 where Anil Kumble happily looked to declare the inning.
